Sluggish acceleration. Choke not needed from cold starts. Sooty or black spark plugs. Sooty or black muffler end pipes. Strong smell of gasoline when the machine is at idle. WebInitial start up sequence. It's important to follow these simple steps (in sequence) as your perform your initial start up. Pull the spark plugs out of the bike. If the plug insulators (the bottom, ceramic part of the plug) are dark, sooty or fouled, install new spark plugs. Check the high tension leads (plug wires).

It doesn't do after I am going faster, only about 10 mph and under. It also does it sometimes when I let off the throttle. It seems to do it worse when its cold.
