The ideas of John Dewey have been very influential in the field of education. He is known as one of the most prominent American scholars in the early twentieth century. John Dewey was born in Burlington, Vermont, to a family of modest means. He was one of four boys born to Archibald Sprague Dewey and Lucina Artemisia Rich Dewey.
